Charles Jones
My father was RD1 Gary V Jones and served on the Platte from the time I was 5 until I was 9 years old. I grew on the Platte and had many an "uncle" in CIC. By the time I was 9 I knew a few things, my dad was the world's best Sailor, I was going to be a Sailor and that I was going to follow my father and his shipmates example. I attended the 2006 Reunion in my father's place and talked to many of his shipmates but I never had a chance to say thank you for the impression that you made on me. I did go into the Navy and retired as an AO1. I learned a lot growing up around the Platte and used what I learned later on, thanks to all of my father's shipmates for what I learned there.

Great looking website with good structure. My dad served on AO24 in radar/5" guns 43-45. He has often spoken fondly of his tour and remembers many of his shipmates. Surprised I found no mention of AO24's torpedoing.

aka "Charlie Brown" - Was an RM3 on '65 - '66 WestPac Cruise. Remember ET2 Mike Brown, RM2 Pat Dunne, RM3 Tony Ramo, RMCM Willette, Dick Hasher, Dusty Garrett, and a few others. Lots of "Port & Starboard" watches, UNREP stations to man, and sleepless nights on that cruise, but would do it all over again. Keep in touch.
